As the co-host of 4WD 24/7, Shaun Whale spends months a year living on the road and tackling Australia's hardest tracks. Years on the road have taught him exactly what works and what doesn’t. Out of all the vehicles in his shed, this is the one he camps out of the most, particularly off camera. To handle the needs of full-time touring, Shaun chose a Trig Point Chassis Mount Canopy
Why a Trig Point Chassis Mount Canopy?
Instead of a traditional separate tray and canopy, Shaun opted for a direct chassis mount canopy. With the knowledge that this was a full time touring set up and no plans to remove the canopy this setup eliminates the weight of a separate tray structure and maximizes his legal payload. By removing the tray floor, the canopy sits much lower on the vehicle, unlocking massive internal vertical storage space and creating an ergonomic platform where everything is within arm's reach.
THE CANOPY
Shaun’s canopy is meticulously designed for camping trips. With such a busy schedule, ease of use and organisation were key. Everything is pre packed so all he and his wife need is a clothes bag each and they can hit the road.
